Situated between Mid-Market, Lower Haight, and the Western Addition—Hayes Valley is a choice spot for an afternoon sipping craft beer, an evening of delicious dining, and exploring local boutique retailers. At nightfall, our neighborhood bustles with both locals and visitors supporting a performing arts district, from jazz to opera. Add to this annual events which foster community and encourage diversity, it is easy to see why Hayes Valley is often included in lists of top neighborhoods here in San Francisco and beyond.
Hayes Street, between Octavia and Gough is closed for only pedestrians on Fridays 4pm–10pm and Saturdays 10am–10pm. See the Hayes Promenade website.

Rivian—A Community Champion for Compass!
This holiday season, Rivian in Hayes Valley is stepping up as a Community Champion to support families experiencing homelessness through the Compass Community Bin Program.
Compass Family Services has been serving San Francisco for over 100 years, helping families experiencing or at risk of homelessness secure stable housing, childcare, emotional support, and the resources they need to achieve long-term stability. Each year, Compass supports more than 6,500 parents and children, providing compassionate, practical assistance during their most challenging moments. The Community Bin Program helps ensure families have access to essential items—like shoes, books, and toys—that make daily life more comfortable and help children feel cared for and included.
You can join this effort by bringing your donations of new, unwrapped shoes, books, and toys to Rivian, 340 Fell Street (entrance also on Linden Street at Octavia), now until December 31st. (Rivian is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.)
